About froxlor

froxlor is a free, open-source server management panel aimed at administrators and small hosting providers who run their own Debian or Ubuntu machines. It handles the everyday hosting chores from a web interface: creating customer accounts and resellers, adding domains and subdomains, setting up mailboxes and forwarders, provisioning MySQL databases, FTP users and SSH keys, issuing SSL certificates and tracking traffic. Version 2 brought a redesigned Bootstrap interface with light and dark modes, a command-line installer for automated deployments, an API for scripting, PHP-FPM enabled by default and rspamd-based spam filtering per mailbox. It is developed by a small team in Germany, distributed as a tarball, from Git or through its own Debian and Ubuntu package repositories. There is no paid edition of the panel itself; the team offers managed servers separately for people who don't want to run it themselves. Compared with commercial panels such as cPanel or Plesk it is lighter and costs nothing, but it expects more Linux knowledge and has a smaller ecosystem of add-ons.

Best for: Admins and small hosts who want a free, lightweight panel for Debian or Ubuntu servers.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Free and open source with no paid tiers for the panel
  • Covers domains, email, databases, FTP, SSL and resellers in one place
  • API and CLI installer make automated deployments practical
  • Official Debian and Ubuntu package repositories

Why people leave

  • Officially targets Debian and Ubuntu; other distributions need manual work
  • Much smaller plugin and app-installer ecosystem than cPanel or Plesk
  • Expects solid Linux administration knowledge to install and maintain
