About Gimkit

Gimkit is a quiz game for classrooms, made by a former student. A teacher builds a kit of questions, or imports one, and hosts a live game that students join from their own devices with a code. Unlike Kahoot-style quizzes with one shared screen, each student answers at their own pace, earns virtual money for right answers and spends it on upgrades and power-ups, which keeps quick and slow students playing at once. A rotating set of game modes, from tag games to team building challenges, gives the same questions a different feel. The free Basic plan allows unlimited students and classes but only a few featured modes at any time; Gimkit Pro unlocks every mode, homework-style assignments, and image and audio questions, and schools can buy group licences. It runs in any web browser, so it works on Chromebooks, tablets and phones without an app. It is built for K-12 review rather than graded assessment or business training.

Best for: K-12 teachers who want a self-paced quiz game for review and homework.
