About GNOME System Monitor
GNOME System Monitor is the process viewer and resource monitor that ships with the GNOME desktop, so it is already installed on many Linux distributions, including Ubuntu and Fedora Workstation. It has three main views. The Processes tab lists everything running with CPU and memory use, and lets you stop or force-quit frozen programs, change priority, see memory maps and find which process has a file open. The Resources tab draws recent CPU, memory, swap and network history graphs. The File Systems tab shows how full each mounted disk is. It is free, open source under the GPL-2.0, and maintained as part of the GNOME project, with a help manual explaining each view. It covers the essentials reliably but does not show GPU usage, and its graphs are simpler than newer apps like Mission Center or Resources. It is only available for Linux and other Unix-like systems.
Best for: GNOME users who want the dependable default for finding and stopping misbehaving processes.
