About Hetzner

Hetzner is a German hosting company, founded in 1997, best known for dedicated servers and cloud servers that cost far less than the big US clouds. Hetzner Cloud offers hourly-billed virtual machines, volumes, load balancers, firewalls and S3-compatible object storage, managed through a web console, API and CLI. On the bare-metal side it rents dedicated root servers, including refurbished machines through its Server Auction, plus storage boxes, managed servers and basic web hosting. Hetzner owns its data centre parks in Nuremberg, Falkenstein and Helsinki and adds cloud locations in the US and Singapore. It suits developers, startups and self-hosters comfortable running their own Linux servers. You get raw infrastructure rather than a long list of managed services, so things like managed databases or Kubernetes are left to you or third-party tools, and prices outside Europe are higher.

Best for: Developers and self-hosters who want cheap, fast servers in Europe and can manage Linux.
