About IBM Cloud

IBM Cloud is IBM's public cloud platform, the successor to the service once branded Bluemix. It offers virtual server instances and bare metal servers inside virtual private clouds, managed Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift, object storage, managed databases, and IBM's Watson and watsonx AI services, all billed pay-as-you-go. New accounts get a starting credit, and dozens of services have Lite plans that stay free with usage limits, though a card is needed to sign up. Its pitch is aimed at large enterprises: regulated industries, hybrid setups that also run IBM software on premises, SAP and VMware workloads, and IBM Z or Power systems in the cloud. For a small developer or startup it is usually more complex than smaller VPS providers, and its catalogue and community are narrower than the biggest hyperscalers. It is best for organisations already invested in IBM and Red Hat that want one vendor for infrastructure, support and compliance.

Best for: Enterprises already using IBM or Red Hat that want hybrid cloud with strong compliance options.
