About Huginn
Huginn is a long-running open-source project for building agents that monitor things and take actions, often described as a self-hosted IFTTT or Zapier for technical users. Each agent does one job, such as scraping a web page, reading an RSS feed, checking the weather, receiving a webhook or sending an email, and agents pass events to each other to form chains. People use it to track price drops, watch for keywords on websites and social feeds, build custom digests, or glue together APIs that commercial tools don't support. It is a Ruby on Rails application you install yourself, typically with Docker, and all data stays on your own server. It is free under the MIT licence. The interface is utilitarian and configuration is done in JSON, so it rewards people comfortable with technical setup, and development has slowed compared with its peak years. It has no hosted version, managed app logins or AI features of the kind newer tools offer.
Best for: Developers who want self-hosted agents for scraping, monitoring and alerts.
