About Kami
Kami is a digital classroom tool that lets teachers turn PDFs and other documents into interactive assignments that students can annotate, write on, record audio and video responses to, and hand back. It runs in the browser and is designed around Google Classroom, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, Schoology and other learning platforms, so assignments flow in and out of the systems schools already use. Accessibility tools such as text-to-speech, speech-to-text, dictionary lookups and translation support students with different needs. Kami has a free Basic plan with core annotation, Pro and Teacher plans for individual educators with the full toolset, and custom licences for schools and districts, which also bundle Book Creator after the two companies combined. There is a work plan for business users, but the product is clearly built for education. Outside classrooms it is not a substitute for a full PDF editor, but within schools it is one of the most widely adopted annotation tools.
Best for: Teachers and schools running document-based assignments through an LMS.
