About Kilo Code

Kilo Code is an open-source AI coding agent that grew out of the Cline and Roo Code family of VS Code extensions and has expanded into JetBrains plugins, a CLI, cloud agents, a Slack bot, a code reviewer and a desktop app in beta. It offers several modes for planning, coding, debugging and asking questions, runs parallel agents in isolated git worktrees, and lets you start a task in one surface and continue it in another. Its gateway gives access to over 500 models with no markup on token prices, or you can bring your own keys or run local models, and an automatic mode can pick models for you. The extensions are free and open source; you pay for model usage, with paid Teams and Enterprise plans for shared billing, governance and admin controls. It's a natural landing spot for Roo Code users since that extension shut down. It works in VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf and other Open VSX editors.

Best for: Developers who want an open-source agent with many models and no token markup.
