About LibreCAD
LibreCAD is a free 2D CAD program for technical drawings, floor plans, schematics and laser-cutting or CNC outlines. It grew out of the community edition of QCAD and has been ported to modern Qt versions, offering layers, blocks, dimensioning, snapping, hatches and printing to scale in a straightforward interface. It reads and writes DXF and can read DWG files, and exports to PDF and SVG, so it works for exchanging simple drawings with AutoCAD users. It is strictly 2D: there is no 3D modeling, parametric constraints or advanced annotation styles, and very complex DWG files may not import perfectly. LibreCAD is released under the GPL with no trials, subscriptions or licence fees, is available in over 30 languages, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with installers on GitHub and packages in most Linux distributions.
Best for: Anyone who needs free 2D drafting for plans, outlines and schematics.
