About BricsCAD
BricsCAD, from Bricsys (part of Hexagon), is one of the best-known alternatives to AutoCAD. It works natively with DWG files and uses familiar commands, menus and LISP support, so AutoCAD users and their scripts can usually move over with little retraining. Beyond 2D drafting it adds direct 3D solid modeling, a mechanical toolset for assemblies and sheet metal, and a BIM toolset for building design with IFC and Revit import, with AI-assisted commands to speed up repetitive work. Edition levels range from Lite for 2D up to Pro, Mechanical, BIM and Ultimate. A big attraction is licensing: Bricsys offers perpetual licences as well as subscriptions, often at a lower cost than AutoCAD. There is a 30-day free trial. BricsCAD runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.
Best for: AutoCAD users who want a DWG-compatible alternative with perpetual licensing.
