About MetaGer
MetaGer is a metasearch engine from Germany, run by the non-profit association SUMA-EV and originally developed at the University of Hannover in 1996. It combines results from several web indexes, does not track or store personal data, and includes an "open anonymously" proxy so you can visit results without exposing your IP address. Its source code is published under the AGPL. After losing its free, ad-funded results deal in 2024, MetaGer moved to a key-based model: you buy prepaid tokens with no account or email address, and each search uses a small amount.
