About Qwant

Qwant is a European search engine based in France that promises not to store your search history or sell your personal data. It has added AI features: Flash Answers give a short direct answer to many questions, and a Summary feature condenses a web page in one click when you sign in to a free account. Qwant Junior is a separate filtered version for children. Its results have historically relied heavily on Bing, but Qwant is building a shared European search index with Ecosia to become more independent. Qwant is free and supported by ads. It works in any browser, with extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari and apps for iOS and Android. It appeals to Europeans who want their search provider under EU law. Results quality outside French-language queries can be uneven compared with the US giants.

Best for: Europeans who want a privacy-respecting search engine under EU jurisdiction.
