About Moment of Inspiration (MoI)
Moment of Inspiration, usually called MoI, is a NURBS-based 3D modeler from Triple Squid Software Design, founded by Michael Gibson, who previously worked on Rhino. It focuses on a clean, uncluttered interface that works well with a pen tablet, building accurate models from 2D curves, extrusions, revolves, lofts and booleans. Many artists use it as a companion modeler for hard-surface objects that are then rendered in other software, because its mesh export, including n-gon output, produces tidy polygon models. It is also used for 3D printing. MoI has no parametric history, assemblies, animation or rendering, and development is slow-paced compared with bigger tools. Version 4 is sold as a one-time purchase, with a discounted upgrade from v3, and one licence covers both the Windows and Mac versions. A trial is available for download.
