About Motiff
Motiff was a collaborative interface design tool that ran in the browser and was pitched as a lower-cost rival to Figma, with AI features for design systems, layout and repetitive cleanup work. After Figma and Motiff settled their intellectual property disputes in 2025, the company moved its focus to Motiff AI, a generator that turns text prompts, wireframes, screenshots or product documents into UI screens. Motiff AI offered preset styles such as Material Design, Ant Design and shadcn/ui, let you select an element and describe a change, and could export React or HTML code. The Motiff homepage now says the product has been discontinued, so existing users should export their files and move elsewhere. It had a free tier and paid plans while it operated. People leaving it will most often go to Figma for full design work, Penpot for an open-source option, or AI UI generators such as Uizard and Visily.
Best for: Former Motiff users looking for where to move their UI design work.
Pros and cons
What works
- Generated UI from text, images, PDFs or markdown rather than prompts alone
- Preset styles like Material Design and shadcn/ui kept screens consistent
- Exported React or HTML code from designs
Why people leave
- Discontinued, so there is no future for files kept there
- No self-hosted or offline version to keep using it
