About Music Assistant
Music Assistant is an open-source media library manager that merges your local music files and streaming services such as Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Plex into one library, then plays it on speakers you already own. It supports a wide range of players, including AirPlay, Google Cast, Sonos, Squeezebox, DLNA, Bluesound and Home Assistant media players, and can group mixed brands for multi-room playback. It runs as a Home Assistant app or a standalone Docker container, and it integrates tightly with Home Assistant for automations and voice control. The project is free, backed by the Open Home Foundation, and does not collect data. Each streaming service still needs your own account. It is aimed at playback on home speakers rather than streaming your library to phones remotely, and its fast release pace means occasional breaking changes.
Best for: Home Assistant users who want one music library playing on all their speakers.
