About Paychex Flex
Paychex Flex is the online platform behind Paychex's payroll, HR, time and attendance, benefits and insurance services. Small businesses use it for payroll with tax filing, new-hire reporting and employee self-service, and larger clients add HR administration, benefits, time tracking, retirement plans and access to HR professionals, or move to Paychex's PEO. Paychex is one of the largest US payroll providers and in 2025 acquired Paycor, which now sits alongside it. Pricing is quote-based in packages, with promotions such as free months for new small-business customers. It runs in the browser with iOS and Android apps. Customers value having a dedicated payroll specialist and the breadth of services; frequent complaints are add-on fees, a less modern interface than newer platforms, and the effort of comparing packages without published prices.
Best for: Small and mid-sized US businesses that want payroll with a dedicated specialist.
