About Primal
Primal is one of the most user-friendly ways to use Nostr, the decentralised protocol where your identity is a key pair and posts travel through independent relays. Primal adds its own caching servers so feeds load quickly, offers curated and custom feeds, search, notifications and direct messages, and builds in a Bitcoin Lightning wallet for sending and receiving zaps. Because it uses standard Nostr identities, you can take your account and followers to any other Nostr app. The web, iPhone and Android apps are open source under the MIT licence. The core app is free, and a Primal Premium subscription adds extras such as a verified Nostr address and media storage. Primal's caching makes it faster but also more centralised than pure relay-based clients. As with all Nostr apps, moderation is light, the community is heavily focused on Bitcoin, and losing your private key means losing your identity.
Best for: Nostr newcomers who want a fast, polished app with a built-in Bitcoin wallet.
