About Quickbase

Quickbase is one of the oldest no-code database platforms, originally built inside Intuit and now an independent company. Business teams use it to build operational apps such as project trackers, safety and compliance logs, inventory systems and field-service workflows on a shared relational database, with forms, reports, dashboards, role-based permissions and automation pipelines that connect to other systems. It is especially common in construction, manufacturing, government and other industries where spreadsheets have become risky, and it adds governance features IT departments expect: sandboxes, audit logs and admin controls. Newer additions include an AI app builder and FastField mobile forms. Pricing is aimed at organisations rather than individuals: a 30-day free trial, then Team and Business plans priced per user per month billed annually on top of an unpublished platform minimum, and custom Enterprise deals. It runs in the browser with mobile apps. It is powerful but expensive for small teams, and the interface is functional rather than modern.

Best for: Mid-size and large organisations replacing risky spreadsheets with governed operational apps.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Handles complex, multi-table operational apps at scale
  • Strong governance: permissions, sandboxes and audit logs
  • Industry templates for construction, manufacturing and safety

Why people leave

  • Platform minimum fee makes it costly for small teams
  • Interface looks dated next to newer tools
  • Real pricing is only clear after talking to sales
