About RealVNC Connect

RealVNC was founded by the team that created the VNC protocol, and RealVNC Connect is its commercial remote access product. You install RealVNC Server on the machines you want to reach and RealVNC Viewer on the devices you connect from, then connect through RealVNC's cloud brokering or directly over your own network. That direct mode, plus wide platform support including Raspberry Pi and Linux, makes it common in industrial, education and embedded settings. Subscriptions are tiered from Essentials for individuals up through Plus, Premium and an Enterprise tier with on-premises deployment and SSO, and they can be priced per device or per concurrent session. A Lite plan is free for non-commercial use on a few devices with limited features and no technical support. The viewer runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and the server on desktops and Raspberry Pi.

Best for: Teams that want VNC-based access with both cloud and direct-connection options.

Pros and cons

  • Strong Linux and Raspberry Pi support
  • Per-device or per-session licensing choices

Why people leave

  • Free Lite plan is non-commercial with limited features
  • Pricing is higher than many newer rivals
  • Server and Viewer setup is less instant than code-based tools
