About MeshCentral
MeshCentral is an open-source remote management server built on Node.js. You install it on your own machine or VPS, deploy its small agent to Windows, Linux, macOS or FreeBSD devices, and then manage them all from a web page: remote desktop, a command-line terminal, a file browser, power controls, Intel AMT out-of-band management and event logs. Users and groups get fine-grained permissions, and the server supports two-factor sign-in and SSO. It is popular with small IT shops, schools and hobbyists who want a self-hosted alternative to commercial RMM and remote support tools without paying per technician or per device. Everything is free under the Apache License 2.0, and the project is published on npm. The trade-offs are the usual self-hosting ones: you handle installation, certificates, updates and security, and the interface is functional rather than polished. Phone support is limited compared with commercial tools.
Best for: Small IT teams and home-labbers wanting a free self-hosted remote management portal.
