About Restfox

Restfox is a lightweight, open-source API client that aims to feel like a simpler Postman or Insomnia. You can send HTTP requests, organise them into collections and folders, use environments and variables, write pre-request and test scripts, and test WebSocket and Socket.IO connections. Collections can be imported from Postman, Insomnia and OpenAPI, and the app can store workspaces as files on your disk so you can keep them in Git. It is offline-first, needs no account, runs in the browser as a web app, and has desktop builds for Windows, Mac and Linux. Restfox is free under the MIT licence and maintained mainly by a single developer. The trade-offs are fewer advanced features than the big clients, no built-in team sync, and a smaller community. It suits developers who want a fast, no-account client that works in a browser tab or on the desktop.

Best for: Developers who want a minimal, no-account client in the browser or on the desktop.
