About Technitium DNS Server
Technitium DNS Server is a full open-source DNS server you can run at home or in an organisation. It works as both a recursive resolver and an authoritative server, so beyond Pi-hole-style ad and malware blocking with blocklists it can host your own zones, run split-horizon DNS and act as a DHCP server. It supports DNS-over-TLS, DNS-over-HTTPS and DNS-over-QUIC, both for forwarding to public resolvers and for serving clients, and it is managed from a web console. It runs on Windows, Linux, macOS and Raspberry Pi through the .NET runtime, or from the official Docker image. It is free and open source. It suits home-lab users who want a real DNS server rather than a filtering layer; the interface is more technical than Pi-hole or AdGuard Home, and the community is smaller.
Best for: Home-lab and IT users who want a full DNS server with built-in ad blocking.
