About uGet
uGet is a long-running open-source download manager, mostly used on Linux, with Windows builds as well. It organises downloads into categories and queues, splits files across multiple connections to speed them up, resumes interrupted transfers, and can watch the clipboard to pick up links you copy. It also supports scheduling, batch downloads from a list of URLs, and can use aria2 as a backend for extra protocols such as BitTorrent and Metalink. Browser integration comes through add-ons for Firefox and Chromium-based browsers. The app is lightweight, written in C with a GTK interface, and is packaged by most Linux distributions. It's free with no paid tier. Development has slowed: code changes are infrequent and the project site doesn't publish a recent release cadence, so users who want frequent updates or a modern macOS app may prefer newer managers.
Best for: Linux users who want a light, free download manager with queues and a clipboard monitor.
