About Vestiaire Collective
Vestiaire Collective is a Paris-based online marketplace where people buy and sell second-hand luxury and designer fashion: bags, clothing, shoes, jewellery and watches. Unlike consignment services, sellers list their own items and set prices, and the site takes a selling fee. Buyers choose between shipping options; with authenticated shipping, the item first goes to a Vestiaire hub where staff check that it is genuine and matches the description before forwarding it, for an added fee. It operates in Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific through separate local entities, with apps for iPhone and Android. In 2022 it bought US resale site Tradesy and moved its users over. It suits people who want a large international selection of designer pieces and sellers who prefer to control pricing. Downsides are fees on both sides and cross-border shipping, which can add customs duties.
