About Anchorpoint

Anchorpoint is a desktop version-control app aimed at game studios, 3D artists and other creative teams who find typical Git clients too technical. Under the hood it uses Git and works with hosted Git services such as GitHub, but it hides branches and the command line behind a simple sync-and-commit interface, handles Git LFS for large binary files automatically, and adds file locking so two artists do not edit the same asset at once. It integrates with Unreal Engine and Unity, offers an Unreal Game Sync-style option for syncing compiled binaries, and also includes asset management: tagging, thumbnails and review and approval of files. It runs on Windows and macOS. The Personal plan is free for non-commercial use by one user; commercial teams pay per user per month, with discounts for indies and schools. Engineers on the same project can keep using their usual Git tools alongside it. It is not meant for general software developers.

Best for: Game studios and artists who need Git with file locking for large binary assets.
