About lazygit

lazygit is a terminal user interface for Git written in Go, and one of the most starred Git tools on GitHub. It splits the terminal into panels for files, branches, commits and stashes, and every common action is a single key: stage a line or hunk, amend an old commit, start an interactive rebase, cherry-pick between branches, bisect, manage worktrees or undo the last operation. Custom patches let you pull individual lines out of an old commit and move them elsewhere. Because it runs in any terminal, it works the same over SSH, inside editors like Neovim or VS Code's terminal, and on Windows, macOS, Linux and BSD. It is free and open source under the MIT licence, installed through Homebrew, Scoop, winget, distro packages or a single binary. The trade-off is that you need to learn its keybindings, and it shows history as a list with a simple graph rather than the rich visual graph of desktop clients.

Best for: Terminal users who want fast Git workflows without leaving the keyboard.
