About Apple Pages

Pages is Apple's word processor, and it doubles as a simple page-layout tool for newsletters, flyers and books. Its templates look polished out of the box, text wraps cleanly around images and shapes, and it can export to Word, PDF and EPUB or publish directly to Apple Books. On iPad it supports Apple Pencil for handwriting and annotations, and collaboration works over iCloud, including from a web browser through iCloud.com on any computer. Pages comes free on every new Mac, iPad and iPhone; since 2026 an optional Apple Creator Studio subscription adds premium templates, content and AI features, while the core app stays free. The limits are reach and compatibility: there is no Windows or Android app, so non-Apple colleagues must use the web version or receive exports, and complex Word documents with tracked changes or intricate styles don't always survive a round trip.

Best for: Apple users who want good-looking documents and layouts without paying for Word.
