About Autodesk Revit
Revit is the dominant Building Information Modeling application in many architecture and engineering firms. Instead of drawing lines, you model walls, floors, doors and systems as intelligent objects, and plans, sections, elevations and schedules update automatically from that single model. It covers architecture, structural engineering and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) in one product, supports worksharing so several people can edit a model, and integrates with Autodesk's cloud services for collaboration and with tools like Dynamo for visual scripting. Revit is powerful but demanding: it has a long learning curve, needs a capable PC, and its families and templates take effort to set up well. It runs only on Windows. Autodesk sells it by subscription, often within the AEC Collection with AutoCAD and other tools, with free education licences and a trial.
Best for: Architecture and engineering firms producing coordinated BIM models and drawings.
