About BetterMouse

BetterMouse is a macOS menu bar app for people who use a non-Apple mouse on a Mac. It adds smooth, configurable scrolling, separate control of cursor speed and acceleration (including turning acceleration off), drag-to-pan scrolling, and mapping of every button, drag, hold and gesture to keyboard shortcuts or actions such as switching Spaces. Per-app settings let you change behaviour in specific programs. For supported Logitech mice and keyboards it can also change hardware settings such as DPI, onboard profiles, the thumbwheel and backlight, and it includes a receiver pairing tool, so it is often used in place of Logitech Options+. It is built as a regular app without drivers, extensions or background agents and makes no network connections of its own. BetterMouse is paid software: a one-time licence covers several Macs and there is a full-featured free trial. It needs a recent macOS version.

Best for: Mac users with Logitech or other third-party mice who want a light Options+ replacement.

Why people leave

  • Paid, unlike free tools such as Mos and LinearMouse
  • Can conflict with Logitech's own apps, which need removing
  • Mac only
