About CursorSense
CursorSense is a small macOS utility from Plentycom Systems, the Japanese developer behind SteerMouse. macOS only lets you change tracking speed, which is really acceleration; CursorSense adds a separate sensitivity control, so you can get a flat, predictable cursor for drawing or a slower one for a high-DPI gaming mouse. It is also popular with people moving from Windows who find the Mac cursor feels wrong. Settings are saved per mouse, and a Recommended Settings window shows which combinations other users pick. A second feature snaps the pointer to the OK or Cancel button when a dialog opens, configurable per app. It is a one-time purchase with a 20-day full trial, and minor upgrades are free while major versions cost extra. It runs on recent macOS releases only, and sensitivity changes do not apply to Apple trackpads or the Magic Mouse.
Best for: Mac users with a third-party or gaming mouse who want Windows-like or flat cursor movement.
Pros and cons
What works
- Separate acceleration and sensitivity controls that macOS lacks
- Per-mouse settings that follow each device
- One-time licence rather than a subscription
- Optional cursor snapping to dialog buttons
Why people leave
- Sensitivity changes don't work on built-in trackpads or Magic devices
- Mac only
- Does nothing for buttons or scrolling; that needs SteerMouse
