About Calligra
Calligra is the office and graphics suite made by the KDE community, and the successor to KOffice. The current suite centres on Words for documents, Sheets for spreadsheets, Stage for presentations and Karbon for vector graphics, while older parts such as the Kexi database and Plan project tool now follow their own release schedules. It uses the ODF format and fits naturally into the KDE Plasma desktop, with a layout that puts tools in side panels rather than a ribbon. Calligra is free and open source, and it is mainly used on Linux, where it is available from most distribution repositories. It is a reasonable choice if you live in KDE and want something lighter and more integrated than LibreOffice. The catch is that development is slow and mostly volunteer-driven, compatibility with complex Microsoft Office files is weaker than LibreOffice or ONLYOFFICE, and there is no collaboration or cloud component.
Best for: KDE Plasma users who want a lightweight, integrated open-source office suite.
