About Cherry Studio

Cherry Studio is an open-source desktop app that gathers models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Azure and many other providers, including local runners, into one interface. It is especially popular in China and among users who juggle several API providers. Beyond multi-model chat it offers hundreds of preset assistants, side-by-side answers from different models, knowledge bases built from your documents, image generation, translation, MCP tools and a set of built-in 'mini programs' that open popular AI web tools without leaving the app. Everything is stored locally, and you bring your own API keys or point it at local models. It is free to use, with an enterprise edition for organisations. The trade-offs are an interface that packs in a lot, documentation that leans toward Chinese-speaking users, and a project-specific licence rather than a standard one. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Best for: Power users who juggle many API providers and want one free desktop app.
