About Clipboard (CB)

The Clipboard Project, run as the cb command, is a clipboard manager that lives in the terminal. Instead of a single system clipboard, it lets you keep as many named clipboards as you like and copy, cut and paste text, files and whole folders between them, so moving a handful of files across directories works like it does in a file manager. Clipboard contents persist, can be searched and edited with regular expressions, and can trigger scripts, which makes it handy in shell workflows and over SSH. It also talks to the system clipboard on Linux, macOS and Windows so terminal and desktop apps can share content. CB is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 licence, installs through a one-line script or common package managers, and has no paid tier. It is aimed at developers and terminal users; anyone wanting a graphical history window with search and previews will be better served by a GUI clipboard manager.

Best for: Developers and terminal users who want persistent, scriptable clipboards for text and files.
