About croc
croc is a command-line file transfer tool written in Go by Zack Scholl. Like Magic Wormhole, you run `croc send` on a file or folder, share the generated code phrase, and the recipient runs croc with that phrase to receive it. Transfers are end-to-end encrypted using a password-authenticated key exchange, go through a relay so they work behind firewalls and NAT, and can resume if the connection drops. It ships as a single binary for Windows, macOS, Linux and BSD with no runtime dependencies, works over IPv6, can send text and multiple files at once, and lets you run your own relay if you don't want to use the public one. It is MIT-licensed and free. It suits developers and sysadmins who often move files between laptops and servers, but a terminal tool is a hard sell for non-technical recipients.
Best for: Developers and sysadmins sending files between machines from the command line.
