About Cybereason

Cybereason sells the Cybereason Defense Platform, a business endpoint security product that combines next-generation antivirus, behavioural protection and endpoint detection and response. Its signature feature is the MalOp, a view that pulls every alert, process, machine and user involved in one attack into a single story, so analysts investigate one incident rather than hundreds of alerts. Responses such as isolating a machine or killing a process can be run from the investigation in one click or automatically. Customers can run it themselves, co-manage it, or hand it to a managed detection and response team. Cybereason was acquired by LevelBlue, the managed security company, and its website now points to LevelBlue; existing customers keep access to the platform and support portals. Pricing is quote-based and aimed at mid-size and large organisations. Buyers should weigh the change in ownership when planning a long-term contract.

Best for: Security teams that want correlated attack stories and an optional managed service.

Pros and cons

What works

  • One-click or automated response actions
  • Can be self-run, co-managed or fully managed

Why people leave

  • Ownership change to LevelBlue adds roadmap uncertainty
  • No public pricing
  • Aimed at larger organisations rather than small businesses
