About dbForge Studio

dbForge Studio is a family of database IDEs from Devart, with separate products for SQL Server, MySQL and MariaDB, PostgreSQL and Oracle, plus an Edge edition that combines several. The SQL Server version is the best known, pitched as a richer alternative to SSMS: code completion and formatting, refactoring, a visual query builder, schema and data compare with sync scripts, a test data generator, source control integration, database documentation, a debugger and performance profiling. It is built for Windows and can be run on macOS and Linux through compatibility layers that Devart supports. Editions range from a free Express edition with basic features to Standard, Professional and Enterprise; a trial unlocks full features first, after which the free Express edition takes over. Licences are sold as perpetual licences with a support period, or as subscriptions. It is expensive and Windows-centric, but database teams that need compare, sync and test data in one place often justify the cost.

Best for: SQL Server and MySQL teams that need schema compare, sync and test data tools.
