About DockDoor

DockDoor fills a gap Windows users notice right away on a Mac: hover over an app in the Dock and it shows thumbnails of every open window, including ones that are minimized, hidden or on other Spaces and displays. From a preview you can bring a window forward, close it, minimize it or quit the app. It also adds an Option-Tab switcher that cycles through individual windows rather than whole apps, with type-to-search, plus window previews layered over the built-in Command-Tab switcher. Optional extras include trackpad gestures for snapping windows to halves and corners, folder previews in the Dock, and a music-player widget. Everything can be tuned in Settings, from hover delay to preview size and style. DockDoor is a native macOS app for macOS 13 and later on both Apple silicon and Intel. It is entirely free and open source under GPL-3.0, funded by donations and by a separate paid app, DockDoor Pro, which replaces the Dock outright. It has no analytics or crash reporting, but it does need Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions to see and capture windows.

Best for: Mac users coming from Windows who want taskbar-style window previews and a window-level Alt+Tab.
