About EA App

The EA app is Electronic Arts' own launcher for Windows and macOS, and the replacement for the older Origin client. It is where you sign in with an EA Account, download and update EA titles such as EA SPORTS FC, Battlefield, Apex Legends and The Sims, see what friends are playing, and link other gaming accounts to import friends lists. It also hosts the EA Play subscription, which gives access to a library of EA games, timed trials of new releases and a discount on EA digital purchases. The app itself is free. One thing to know before looking for an alternative: EA says the app is required to play EA games on PC, so even copies bought on Steam or the Epic Games Store install it in the background. People who want fewer launchers usually move their buying to Steam or GOG, or put a front end such as Playnite or Heroic on top to keep everything in one library.

Best for: PC and Mac players of EA titles, and EA Play subscribers.
