About ERPNext

ERPNext is an open-source ERP built by Frappe on its own framework, licensed under GPL-3.0. Accounting is a core module, with a chart of accounts, journal entries, sales and purchase invoices, payments, bank reconciliation, multi-currency, multi-company, budgeting, fixed assets and financial statements, and it sits alongside inventory, manufacturing, projects, CRM, HR and payroll in the same database. Unlike many open-core products, all modules are in the free edition; you pay only for hosting, either your own server or Frappe Cloud, plus implementation help if you want it. It runs in the browser and can be self-hosted. It is a lot of software for a freelancer, and getting it set up well takes time or a partner, but for small manufacturers, distributors and service companies that want accounting tied to stock and operations without licence fees, it is one of the strongest options.

Best for: Small and mid-sized companies that want accounting tied to inventory and operations without licence fees.
