About Ginger

Ginger Software has offered context-based grammar and spelling correction since well before the current AI wave. It looks at whole sentences rather than single words, then suggests fixes you accept in one click, and adds a rephraser, synonyms, a translator and a personal trainer that drills your recurring mistakes. It is available as Chrome and Edge extensions, desktop apps for Windows (with a Microsoft Office add-in) and Mac, and Ginger Writer apps and a keyboard for iOS and Android. A free version covers basic corrections, with a Premium subscription for unlimited rephrasing and advanced checks; there is also a grammar API for developers. Ginger is aimed especially at people writing in English as a second language. It feels dated next to newer tools: the interface has changed little in years, and its generative AI features are modest. Its pricing pages lean heavily on recurring sales, so check the regular price before buying.

Best for: English learners who want quick sentence-level corrections across desktop and phone.
