About GitGuardian

GitGuardian specialises in finding leaked credentials. It scans Git repositories on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps, including full history, along with CI/CD logs, container registries and, on higher plans, tools like Jira, Slack and documentation. It recognises hundreds of secret types, checks whether found keys are still valid, and gives security teams incident workflows, remediation playbooks and integrations with Slack, Jira and ServiceNow. The ggshield CLI adds pre-commit and pre-push hooks and hooks for AI coding tools so secrets are caught on developer machines. Further products monitor public GitHub for leaks tied to your company and govern non-human identities across secrets vaults. A free Starter plan covers small teams of up to 25 developers; Growth and Enterprise plans are quote-based, and Enterprise can be self-hosted. It is narrower than full SAST platforms but goes deeper on secrets.

Best for: Security and platform teams that need to find, validate and clean up leaked secrets across the org.

  • Focused on secrets, so you still need a separate SAST or SCA tool
  • Collaboration-tool scanning is limited to the Enterprise plan
