About gitui
gitui is a terminal user interface for Git written in Rust. It covers status, staging by file, hunk or line, committing, branching, stashing, browsing and searching the log, and viewing diffs, with context-sensitive help shown on screen so you do not have to memorise shortcuts. Git operations run asynchronously, so the interface stays responsive while large repositories load; the project's own benchmarks against lazygit and tig on the Linux kernel repository show it using much less time and memory. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is installed with Homebrew, MacPorts, winget, Scoop, Chocolatey, cargo or distro packages. It is free and open source under the MIT licence. Compared with lazygit it has fewer advanced history-editing tools, such as custom patches, and some features like commit signing have known gaps, so it suits people who want a quick, light status-and-commit tool in the terminal more than a full rebase workbench.
Best for: Terminal users on very large repositories who want a light, responsive Git UI.
