About Habitica
Habitica turns habits, daily routines and to-dos into a game. You create an avatar, and ticking off a task earns experience, gold and items, while skipping a daily costs health. Friends can form a party and take on boss quests together, so a missed habit hurts the whole group, which is the accountability hook many users stay for. Underneath the pixel art it is a capable task tool: positive and negative habits, recurring dailies with checklists, ordinary to-dos with due dates, tags, and public challenges that others can join. The game layer is the reason to pick it, and also the reason some people drop it; if rewards and pets do not motivate you, it can feel like noise. Tracking itself is free with no feature limits; an optional subscription adds cosmetic perks and supports development. It runs in the browser with iOS and Android apps, and the code for the web app and both mobile apps is public on GitHub.
Best for: People motivated by games and group accountability who want habits and to-dos in one place.
