About Hightail

Hightail, originally known as YouSendIt, is one of the older large-file sending services and is now owned by OpenText. Alongside sending files by link, it focuses on creative teams: shared spaces where clients can preview and stream files, leave time-coded or on-image comments, and approve versions, plus project management features and plugins for Adobe apps. Sent files can be tracked, recipients are notified automatically, and files can sync from Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. A free Lite plan is limited to small files of up to 100 MB with a couple of gigabytes of storage, and sent files expire after seven days. Pro, Teams and Business plans raise the send limit to many gigabytes, add unlimited storage and let you choose expiry dates or keep files indefinitely; they are billed annually. The free tier is too small for most video work, and the product has seen little visible change in recent years compared with newer rivals.

Best for: Creative agencies that want file delivery and client review in one place.
