About Infuse

Infuse, from Firecore, is a video player and library app for Apple devices. Point it at local files, a NAS, a computer share or a media server and it fetches artwork, descriptions and ratings to build a clean library, without needing a server of its own. It connects over SMB, NFS, FTP and WebDAV, to Plex, Emby and Jellyfin servers, and to cloud drives like Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive, streaming without downloading first. Playback quality is a highlight, with Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+ support and Dolby Atmos passthrough on compatible hardware. Infuse is free to download with core features; Infuse Pro, sold as a subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase, adds iCloud sync of library and watch history, more formats and other extras. It runs on iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, macOS and visionOS. Android and Windows users will need something else.

Best for: Apple TV and iPhone owners who want a beautiful library for files stored on a NAS or server.

Pros and cons

  • Streams from NAS shares, media servers and cloud drives
  • Strong Dolby Vision and HDR support

Why people leave

  • Apple devices only
  • Several key features need Infuse Pro
  • Not a server, so it doesn't transcode for other devices
