About PotPlayer
PotPlayer is a Windows media player originally from Daum, now part of Kakao. It is known for packing an enormous number of options into one app: hardware-accelerated decoding through DXVA, CUDA and QuickSync, built-in codecs with support for adding your own through OpenCodec, 3D playback in several formats, detailed subtitle support including ASS animations and Blu-ray subtitles, bookmarks, scene previews, audio device selection and video filters. Out of the box it plays almost anything smoothly with little CPU use, and enthusiasts can tweak nearly every aspect of decoding and rendering. It is free to download. The downsides are a cluttered settings tree, an English translation that is sometimes awkward, and the fact that it is closed source. It runs on Windows only, including ARM64 builds. It suits Windows users who want a free player they can fine-tune.
Best for: Windows users who want a free player with deep control over decoding, subtitles and output.
