About Magic Earth

Magic Earth is a navigation app from Magic Lane that uses OpenStreetMap data and makes privacy its main selling point: the company says it does not collect personal data, track movements or sell information. The free Essential tier covers search, turn-by-turn navigation and standard map styles for driving, cycling, walking and trucks. Premium unlocks offline map downloads, real-time traffic and weather along the route, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Apple Watch support, terrain and elevation views, bike- and truck-specific routing profiles, trip recording with shareable activity logs, and cloud backup of favourites. Public transport information covers hundreds of regions. Premium is sold as an in-app subscription on iPhone and Android with a 14-day trial, or as a one-year licence bought on the website that does not renew automatically. Because the maps come from OpenStreetMap, quality depends on local volunteers, and recent road changes can take a while to appear.

Best for: Drivers and cyclists who want full navigation without being tracked by a big ad company.
