About Microsoft Power Apps
Power Apps is Microsoft's low-code platform for business apps. Canvas apps let you design screens freely with an Excel-like formula language called Power Fx, model-driven apps generate interfaces from data stored in Dataverse, and Copilot can draft apps from a description. Hundreds of connectors reach SharePoint, Excel, SQL Server, Dynamics 365, Teams and outside services, and apps work in the browser, inside Teams and on iOS and Android. It is part of the Power Platform alongside Power Automate, Power BI and Copilot Studio, and IT departments value its governance through the Microsoft admin centre and Entra ID. Some basic use is included with Microsoft 365 licences, while premium connectors and Dataverse need a Power Apps Premium licence per user per month, with lower prices at large seat volumes and paid add-ons for extra database capacity. A free Developer Plan lets individuals build and test. Licensing is notoriously confusing, performance can lag, and it makes most sense inside a Microsoft-centred organisation.
Best for: Organisations on Microsoft 365 that want governed business apps built by IT and power users.
