About ToolJet
ToolJet is an open-source low-code platform for internal tools, dashboards and business apps. You can build visually with drag-and-drop components, generate an app from a prompt with its AI builder, or connect coding agents through its MCP server. It ships with dozens of data source connectors, a built-in Postgres-backed database, workflows for background jobs and multi-environment releases, and JavaScript or Python for custom logic. The open-source edition under AGPL can be self-hosted on Docker, Kubernetes, a private cloud or on-premises. ToolJet's paid cloud and self-hosted plans are priced per builder per month with limits on end users, apps and AI credits, starting with a free plan for evaluation and climbing through Basic, Pro, Team and Enterprise tiers. It runs in the browser. It is popular with developers who like Appsmith's openness but want more AI help, though the end-user caps on lower plans mean costs can jump once apps are widely used.
Best for: Teams that want an open-source Retool alternative with AI-assisted app building.
