About MYOB
MYOB is one of the longest-standing accounting brands in Australia and New Zealand. Its current range includes Solo, a mobile app for sole traders; MYOB Business Lite and Pro for small and medium businesses; and AccountRight for firms that want a desktop-style product with cloud sync. The appeal for local businesses is that payroll with Single Touch Payroll reporting, GST and BAS lodgement and local bank feeds are built for Australian rules rather than added on. Plans are monthly or yearly subscriptions, frequently discounted for the first months, and Business Pro comes with a free trial. MYOB runs in the browser, with mobile apps and a Windows option through AccountRight. Outside Australia and New Zealand it is not a realistic choice, and many local businesses compare it directly with Xero, which has a bigger app marketplace and a reputation for a cleaner interface.
Best for: Australian and New Zealand small businesses that want local payroll and tax compliance.
